What are layouts?

On Riverside, layouts refer to the arrangement of video tracks in your recording that allow you to customize how participants, screen shares, or media appear. 

Here’s how you can add or modify layouts:

1. Open your recording in the Riverside Editor.
2. Place the scrubber on the timeline where you want to insert a scene.
3. Click "Add Scene" and then click on the video frame.
4. Select "Layout" and choose from different options to apply to your scene.

You can also adjust the overall appearance of your video by customizing elements such as spacing, corners, and mirroring by filling tracks or changing the aspect ratio to fit your desired layout.

How to add a smart scene on Riverside

Smart Scenes automatically create dynamic layouts that adjust based on who’s speaking or active in the video, saving time in the editing process. They detect and highlight the main speaker, screen shares, or multiple participants so you can create a professional-looking video without manual adjustments. 

To apply a Smart Scene in Riverside:

• Open your recording in the Riverside Editor.
• Click on the timeline where you want to apply the Smart Scene.
• Select "Add Scene."
• Choose "Smart Scene" from the options.

How to create multi-layout clips on Riverside

Multi-layout Clips are super simple and not much different from creating a normal Clip:

1. Start a recording in your Riverside studio.
2. Use the Clip Marker to highlight key moments from which you’d like to create Clips.
3. Stop recording and wait for all your tracks to upload.
4. Choose a pre-made automated Clip or go to the Editor to create a Clip.
5. Select the ‘Size’ button in the editor toolbox on the right side of your Clip. A pop-up menu will give you the three Multi-layout options: Story, Post, or Full length.
6. Pick the content you want in your Clip and add a background or a logo before finishing off.
7. Export and share your Clip anywhere you choose.
