On what browser does Riverside.fm work?

Our local recording engine works only with Chrome and Edge on laptops or desktops. To use Riverside on the iPhone or Android you need to use the Riverside.fm iPhone or Android app. Browsers like safari and Chrome on mobile phones and tablets are not (yet) supported.

Do I need a credit card to try Riverside.fm?

No, you don’t need a credit card to try Riverside.fm. You can simply sign up for a free account with your name and email address.

What does locally recorded mean?

Locally recorded means that the recording takes place on the computer instead of over the internet. The advantage of this is that the recordings are in studio quality and after downloading the recording you won't hear the disruptions caused by bad internet connections. For each guest you get a separate locally recorded track.

For how long can I use the free plan?

You can use the free plan for as long as you want- there is no limit. The free plan gives you access to unlimited hours of high quality audio and video recording, editing features and separate tracks for up to 2 hours of recording. After 2 hours, you will get a single track for the entire recording. If you would like to continue getting separate tracks beyond 2 hours or would like to remove the watermark from your recordings, please take a look at our different plans on our pricing page.

How is the quality of the recording?

The audio recordings are WAV 48 kHz 16-bit format. We record locally and you can use your preferred mic. The video recordings are up to 4K resolution and depend on the webcam of each participant.  You can record 60 minutes for free and see how it sounds and looks for yourself :).

How many people can record together in a session?

A show can have 8 streams in total. 1 host + 7 guests

What happens if I record more than my limit?

We don't cut you off, but if you record consistently more than your limit we will reach out to you and get you to upgrade your account.

Does the guest need to send his or her local recording to the host??

No, we automatically upload the local recordings during the recording so the host can download all local recordings from the participants after the podcast.

Do my guests need to have an account with Riverside.fm?

No, you will send them a link that gives them access to the session.

Can I stop the recording and continue recording later? Will it all be saved under the same recording?

Absolutely. What’s more, the guest link of each podcast session is reusable, so if you wanted to record again with the same people, they could easily join the session using the same link. This is quite convenient because you can simply create a session and invite all future guests by sharing the same link every time. All the recordings you create will be saved on your Dashboard.

How are recording hours calculated?

We calculate the hours from your monthly subscription based on the total time recorded.

For example, if you have 1 host and 3 guests (4 total participants), and you record for 1 hour, this will only count as 1 hour of total recording time towards your monthly limit.

Can I buy a plan on a monthly basis or only on a yearly basis?

We offer plans on both a monthly and a yearly basis. Yearly plans are at a reduced rate and monthly plans you can cancel at any time.

What if I go over my hours?

We won’t ever cut off your recording. If you consistently record more than your monthly limit, we will reach out to discuss a plan that fits your needs.

Do my unused hours roll over to the next month?

Will any unused time from my trial be added to my account when I start a paid plan?

Can I upgrade, downgrade, or cancel my subscription at any time?

Yes. You can do all of this in your dashboard.
