Quick Transition

Table of contents:

What is a quick transition?

Quick transitions are preset transitions, like fades or wipes, that can be easily applied between clips

In a podcast, quick transitions help smoothly move between topics, camera angles, or visual segments to keep episodes engaging.

What is the most basic editing transition?

A cut is the most basic editing transition. It simply moves from one clip to the next without any visual effects. This transition keeps the narrative flow smooth.

How to do an easy transition

An easy transition can be done by applying a cross dissolve (for video) or a fade in/out (for audio). Here's how:

  • In Adobe Premiere Pro: Drag the Cross Dissolve effect from the effects panel onto the cut between two clips.
  • In Final Cut Pro: Use the Transition Browser to find and drag the transition between two clips.
  • On mobile apps (like iMovie): Simply select the transition icon between clips and choose the desired effect.
