Project File

Table of contents:

What is a project file?

The project file is where all the assets (like video and audio files) and editing data (like transitions, timelines, and applied effects) are saved.

For instance, for a podcast, the project file would include all the recorded tracks, edits, and overlays used.

Why is a project file used?

A project file makes it easier for editors to organize their work and return to videos without losing track of their progress.

How do I run a project file?

  • Open your video editing software.
  • Go to the File menu and select Open Project.
  • Find the project file on your computer and click Open.

How do I organize my video project files?

Create a dedicated folder. Inside the project folder, create subfolders for different assets. Save your project file in the main project folder, along with all necessary media assets. Don’t forget to use a consistent naming convention for all assets.
